International Conference of Asia Pacific Academy of Materials 2018 Held in Shenyang
The International Conference of Asia Pacific Academy of Materials 2018--Trends and Challenges of Materials Science and Engineering was held on 19 to 22 June 2018 in Shenyang, Northeast China’s Liaoning province.
This conference was co-organized by Asia Pacific Academy of Materials (APAM), Shenyang Branch of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), & Shenyang Association of Science and Technology. The Shenyang municipal government, Liaoning Association of Science and Technology, Chinese Materials Research Society, Institute of Metal Research and Chinese Academy of Sciences also supported this conference.
On the morning of June 20, the conference was officially opened. Wang Guangsheng, vice mayor of Shenyang, presided over the opening ceremony. Liu Guixiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Shenyang Municipal Party Committee and Minister of Organization, attended and delivered a speech. Zhao Shihong, vice chairman of Shenyang Municipal committee of Chinese Peoples Political Consultative Conference attended the event.
Wang Tianran, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and chairman of the Liaoning Association for Science and Technology, Han En-Hou, president of the Shenyang Branch of CAS and president of APAM, remarked at the opening ceremony.
On the evening of June 19, Jiang Youwei, mayor of Shenyang with 8M populations, met with representatives of the participating VIPs. They are Li Yiyi, Chu Junhao, Cheng Huimin and Liu Weimin, academicians of CAS, Zhou Lian, Ke Wei, Xie Jianxin and Mao Xinping, academicians of CAE, Huang Huiliang, immediate past president of the APAM (Tsinghua University, Taiwan), Han En-Hou, president of APAM, Lin Weifang (Taiwan University) and Hideomi Koinuma (Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan), vice presidents of APAM.

Prof. Han En-Hou worked as the chairman of conference. 270 representatives from more than 40 domestic and foreign companies participated in the academic annual conference. 10 academicians of the CAS & CAE, 38 academicians and 5 associate academicians of APAM attended the conference. The conference received a total of more than 60 papers, including 52 oral presentations. During the conference, fundamental research of materials, material genome, biomaterials, ecological materials, materials’s engineering techniques and other topics were discussed.
Academician Prof. Cheng Huiming and Chu Junhao, academicians of CAS made the plenary lectures on Graphene and Carbon Nanotubes for Flexible Electronics, Research Trend of Modern Function Material respectively.
Academicians and experts at the conference gave suggestions for the development of Shenyang's new material industry. They regarded Shenyang as a base of materials’ research and innovation and technology transfer, actively participated in a new round of revitalization and development in Shenyang.
