International Training Course of Coastal Zone Management and Bio-industry Development was Successfully held by YIC

  “International Training Course of Coastal Zone Management and Bio-industry Development” was held in Qinzhou, Guangxi, from 7th May to 21th May, 2018. This training course was organized and sponsored by Chinese Academy of Sciences, and co-organized by Yantai Institute of Coastal Zone Research, CAS and Qinzhou University.

  41 students from 21 countries, including professors, government officials, and PhD students, undergraduate and graduate students joined the training course. 14 senior scholars from 6 institutes and universities, including Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Qinzhou University, First Institute of Oceanography, SOA, Guangxi Teachers Education University, Shantou University and Guangxi University, have contributed 15 academic reports regarding to the development of coastal zone management and biological industry to the international trainees. In terms of coastal zone management, four aspects: coastal zone pollution, geographic information system, environmental forensic science and coastal water resources were comprehensively expounded. In terms of the biological industry, four directions: the green culture, the protection and sustainable utilization of rare creatures, the development of the South China Sea's special biological resources, and the environmental restoration were comprehensively expounded to fully embodies the regional characteristics of the coastal zone. In addition, this course has arranged 5 fieldtrips, in order to achieve a good training effect.

  After the half month training, international students have deepened understanding of the coastal zone and learned how to understand the problem of the coastal zone by using the method of cross disciplinary, multidimensional perspective, and scientific observation. Besides, the professional training mode, will effectively boost the national coastal zone planning and management, upgrade the biological industry of the related “Belt and Road” countries, and also lay a good foundation for further cooperation.
