Sino-British project Agribot kick off

Agribot, a research project jointly conducted by Chinese and British researchers was officially started during an online video conference, on May 29, 2015. ,

Agribot aims at bringing space technologies such as space remote sensing technology, detector technology, autonomous nagivation technology and agile manipulator into the area of agriculture robot.  The project will mainly focus on three key technologies, inludingground mobile platform with navigation control, soil and fertilizer detection and robot operating autonomy. Demonstration application will be conducted according to actual demand.

Researchers from Strathclyde University, Sefuepu Appleton Laboratory, University of Surrey, Shenyang Institute of Automation (SIA), National Agricultural Information Engineering Technology Research Center etc. participated in the project.

Liu Jinguo, researcher of SIA and Gao Yang, “overseas famous scholar” of SIA participated in the research  on ground mobile platform with navigation control and robot operating autonomy.

The Agribot startup session was chaired by Professor Yan Xiutian from Strathclyde University. During the session, the work of different participates and corresponding schedules were discussed. The start of the project indicates that Agribot will enter the substantive research stage.
