Dr. Kazuhiko Maeda of Tokyo Institute of Technology Visits IMR
The recipient of 2015 Lee Hsun Lecture Series—Lee Hsun Young Scientist Lecture Series on Materials Science, Dr. Kazuhiko Maeda from Tokyo Institute of Technology visited Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMR, CAS) on April 14, 2016.
Dr. Kazuhiko Maeda delivered a lecture entitled “New heterogeneous photocatalysts designed for solar-to-fuel conversion”. He introduced the recent progress on the development of new photocatalysts that are active for solar-to-fuel energy conversion toward artificial photosynthesis. He also introduced light-driven water splitting and CO2-reduction using particulate semiconductors. During the visit, Dr. Kazuhiko Maeda conducted a deep discussion with young scientists on similar research interest from IMR.
Dr. Kazuhiko Maeda is the Associate Professor of Tokyo Institute of Technology. He has published over 150 papers in the area of solar-driven photocatalysts for water splitting and CO2 reduction in the top journals including Nature, Nature Material, J Am Chem Soc, Angew Chem Int Ed. For his contributions, he has received numerous awards including the Chemical Society of Japan Award for Young Chemists (2013), 6th PCCP Prize for Outstanding Achievement of Young Scientists, Royal Society of Chemistry (2012), and Excellent Lecture Award for Young Scientists in The 106th and 110th CSJ Meetings.
