IOCAS Scientist visited Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco

 November 19-30, Asso. Prof. Zhang Libin from Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences went to Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco, Mexico, and visited 3 campuses related to the research of the biology and aquaculture and some local farms in Tabasco. As an instructor, he also organized a training course on the biology, selective breeding and aquaculture of sea cucumber, Apostichopus japonicus for the professors and students working on aquaculture. He also participated in the International Aquaculture Symposium 2015 and made an oral presentation an.

During the visit, Dr.Zhang Libin visited the biology and aquaculture laboratories in the campues Division Academica de Ciencias Agropecuarias(DACA), Division Academica Multidisciplinaria de Los Rios(DAMR), Division Academica de Ciencias Biologicas(DACB), and some local farms in Tabasco. He also made an exchange with some Mexican experts,scholars and students.

In the campus of Division Academica de Ciencias Agropecuarias(DACA), Dr.Zhang Libin organized an 4 days training course entitled Sea Cucumber: Biology, Selective Breeding and Aquaculture for the professors and students working on aquaculture. The training course mainly focused on the physiological ecology, behavior characteristics, nutrition and feed, aestivation and regeneration, brood stock and seedling breeding, aquaculture and stock enhancement, trade and market, etc. The local state paper Presents reported on the training course.

Dr.Zhang Libin took part in the International Aquaculture Symposium 2015 held at Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco, and made an oral presentation entitled The Movement and Feeding Behavior of Sea Cucumber, Apostichopus japonicus. More than 70 experts and scholars from China, Brazil, Thailand, Guatemala, Mexico and other places attended the symposium.

      The visit and exchange promoted the international collaboration between Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco, Mexico in the field of aquaculture, and laid the foundation for the cooperation on the research in the biology and aquaculture of sea cucumber.
