Scientists from IOCAS participated in the Plant & Animal Genome Asia 2014

Plant & Animal Genome Asia is one of the most important conferences in Asia for genetic researchers to exhibit their update studies and communicate with the other scientist. In 2014, the Plant & Animal Genome Asia was held in Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel of Singapore during the period from May 19-21. More than 300 hundred participants from USA and Asia participated the conference. Professor Jianhai Xiang and Dr. Yang Yu from IOCAS attended the conference.

Professor Xiang gave a presentation of “Advances on genome sequencing of Pacific white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei” in the “Shrimp Epigenomics Workshop. Dr. Yu delivered a presentation “Development of a High Density SNP-Based Linkage Map of Pacific White Shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) Using Next Generation Sequencing”. Scientist from China, USA, Philippines, and Thailand discussed the international cooperation of “THE SHRIMP EPIGENOME (shrimpENCODE) PROJECT”.

This important conference displayed the latest progress on the genome and genetic research of plants and animals. Scientist from different field discussed the new technologies and ideas on the genome and genetics. It will accelerate the further cooperation on shrimp genome project with scientist from other countries.
