The 34^th International Deep Drawing Research Group Conference (IDDRG2015) has been held from May 31 to June 3 in Shanghai.

It is the second time that IDDRG conference has been held by Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMR, CAS), with the first time held in Shenyang in 1992. There are approximate 180 participants in the conference, including about 80 foreign delegates with 97 papers (8 keynoters). The conference has proceeded with the topics of Materials and modelling, Formability and simulation, Forming process and Industrial application in 4 parallel sessions and Poster sessions respectively.

Prof. ZHANG Jian, Deputy Director of IMR addressed the conference on behalf of IMR. Prof. Zhang expressed his thanks to the IDDRG Exco committee for entrusting IMR to host international academic conference, welcomed all the delegates home and abroad, showed gratitude to the assistance in organization and sponsorship by Shanghai JiaoTong University and Baosteel Corporation. He also recalled the first IDDRG held in Shenyang in 1992, speaking highly of the contribution that Prof. SHI Changxu had made with organizing Chinese Deep Drawing Research Group and being the former President of IDDRG EXCO Committee.

The 34^th IDDRG conference was hosted by Prof. ZHANG Shihong, Deputy Head of Specialized Materials and Devices Division, IMR. Dr. Nico Langerak, the President of IDDRG EXCO Committee, scientist at Tata Steel and Prof. Hora from Institute of Virtual Manufacturing, ETH Zurich Switzerland chairman of IDDRG2013 gave a speach respectively at the opening ceremony of the conference.

Prof. Dorel Banabic from Technical University of Cluj Napoca (Romania), Prof. Paulo Martins from University of Lisbon (Portugal), Prof. CAO Jian from Northwestern University (USA), Prof. LIN Jianguo from Imperial College London (UK) and Prof. Heon Young Kim from Kangwon National University (Korea) and three local delegates gave Plenary lectures about their recent research, respectively. Dr. JIANG Haomin introduced the development of Baosteel sheet products and R&D and application of Automotive parts forming technology. Prof. Shi-Hong Zhang introduced some advances on constitutive theory, crystal plasticity, sheet metal forming limit theory and innovation and contribution of new sheet metal forming technologies from IMR and other Chinese scholars. A part of delegates visited Shanghai auto parts manufacturing enterprises. This conference is sponsored by six enterprises home and abroad including Autoform, Xingdi Machinery Co, etc..

During the conference, IDDRG EXCO members also held a work meeting. The EXCO members summarized the international academic activities, proposed the academic plan in the next five years. Prof. ZHANG Shihong was elected as the new committee member of IDDRG EXCO committee.
