Mr. WAN Gang, Vice-Chairman of CPPCC (Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference) and Minister of State Ministry of Science & Technology (MST) of China, inspected the National Fuel Cells Engineering Center of the Xinyuan Power Co. Ltd., an affiliated enterprise of DICP, on 11 September. Accompanying the inspection of Mr. Wan were Mr. WANG Xiaofang, Director of Planning Division of MST, Mr. FENG Jichun, Director of Hi-Tech Development & Commercialization Division of MST, Mr. JIN Xiaoming, Director of International Cooperation Division of MST, Mr. ZHAO Mingpeng, Director of Science & Technology Department of Liaoning Province, Mr. QU Xiaofei, Vice-Mayor of Dalian, Mr. LIU Yan, Assistant to the Mayor of Dalian, Mr. LIU Xiaoying, Director of Bureau of Science & Technology of Dalian, Prof. BAO Xinhe, Director of Shenyang Branch of CAS, and Mr. HUANG Chendong, Chief Engineer of New Energy Cars of Shanghai Automobile Co.
Mr. Wan first made on-the-spot investigations of the fuel cell general assembly plant, the membrane electrode parts cleaning plant, and the system & stack parts determination plant. Then, he listened to the reports of the company on the manufacturing status of the fuel cell systems for the driving of automobiles to be used in the 2010 Shanghai World Fair, the R&D status of the next-generation fuel cells, and the company's plan for the following development stages.
At the end of his inspection, Mr. Wan remarked that our country will give a continual support on the R&D and commercialization of fuel cell driving cars, and will demonstrate new achievements of China in this respect at the Olympic Games, World Fair, Davos Forum and so on.
As the former chief scientist of the state key project for fuel cell cars himself, Mr. Wan's visit has given great encouragement to all the members of the Xinyuan Power Co. DICP experts Prof. YI Baolian and Prof. LIU Zhongmin were also present during Mr. Wan's inspection.
